Coverage in Mexico and Canada

Use your Cricket service while traveling in Mexico and Canada. There's no need to buy a new SIM card or switch to a local carrier--just turn on your Cricket phone! Other carriers may limit your usage or require a special per-day international add-on, but with Cricket Wireless Unlimited plans, your data travels with you to Mexico and Canada. So go ahead, post those vacation photos on social media, text and call friends and family back home, check your emails, and more.

On the Cricket Core Plan, for all data usage, Cricket may temporarily slow data speeds when the network is busy.

Cricket Plans that Include Mexico and Canada

All Cricket unlimited plans starting at $55/mo now include roaming data services plus unlimited calls and texts to and from Mexico, Canada*, and the U.S. This means you can use your phone when you travel to your favorite vacation destinations or visit family back home. Careful though! Calls, texts and data use while in Canada need to stay under 50% of your total usage in a 3-month period or you risk service being suspended. Primary phone usage must be in the U.S.**

*Calls and messages from the U.S. to the Northern Territories of Canada not included.

Data in Mexico and Canada

If you have a Cricket unlimited plan, you can use your high-speed data in Mexico or Canada. Regardless of your plan, if you use roaming data services on wireless carrier networks other than AT&T Mexico, your data usage may be reduced to 2G speeds. In addition, if you are not on an Unlimited plan, once you have exceeded the high-speed data allowance included in your plan, data speeds will be reduced to a maximum 128 Kbps for the rest of your monthly plan cycle.

Just as with calls and texts, cellular data usage in Canada needs to stay under 50% of your total usage in a 3-month period or you risk service being suspended. Primary data usage must be in the U.S.**

Note: Data speeds while roaming in Mexico and Canada are subject to the capabilities of the local service providers, your device, your rate plan, and your location. Also, if you use roaming data services on wireless carrier networks other than AT&T Mexico, your data usage may be reduced to 2G speeds.

Calling and Texting To and From Mexico and Canada

Regardless of your plan, you can receive unlimited text, picture and video messages (SMS and MMS) while traveling. If you decide to upgrade to an unlimited plan while in Mexico or Canada, you can start calling and texting as soon as you make your changes.

What you get:

  • Unlimited text, picture, and video message (SMS & MMS)
